Bach Build is an innovative construction system which utilises digital design & manufacture to create zero-carbon buildings, that are simple to build.

The name Bach is taken from the name for small beach houses found in New Zealand.

Our construction system is modular, therefore suitable for a range of building types and designs. These range from garden STUDIOS, CABINS, TINY HOMES, and house EXTENSIONS.  Multi-storey HOMES will be available soon.

1. We can design a custom building to suit your requirements.  Or you can choose one of our pre-designed buildings 

2. We will then arrange a design consultation to configure the layout of your building, plus add any customisation packs (foundations, waterproofing, windows & doors, cladding etc)

3. You will receive a Modular Building Kit that is simple and quick to assemble on site, to create your (structural & insulated) building chassis.  Plus any additional packs that you have selected to complete your building (or you can provide your own).   

Custom - design your own building, using our construction system.  As Bach Build is modular, we can tailor the system to create almost any building design.  We think it works particularly well for cabins, tiny homes and residential extensions. Pre-designed - we have also developed a range of 12 pre-designed building models.  These are single storey flat roof studio buildings, suitable for most garden plots. Although the footprint of the buildings cannot be changed, window and door layouts can be configured to suit your site.  You receive a tried & tested modular building kit, plus any ‘packs’ (foundations, windows & doors, cladding, etc) that you add to further customise the building.

Costs vary based on building size, design work involved and additional customisation packs. We do indicate a starting price for each of our pre-designed buildings for reference).

Once your building design has been finalised and fully specified, we’ll provide a detailed quote with transparent pricing.

Choosing the correct foundations will depend on your site. Most foundation types are compatible with the Bach Build chassis, but we find footings such as padstones or screw piles work well for most garden sites, and remove the need for a permanent concrete slab or excessive groundworks.

We provide a comprehensive installation guide alongside each building. Depending on foundation type, we can also provide setting out drawings for the footings based on the specific building design & weight.

It depends. Garden buildings often fall under Permitted Development Rights, so planning permission is not required. However, we recommend checking with your local planning authority, especially if you're in a conservation area or your property is listed.

Sustainability is baked into our core.  The Bach Build construction system has been specifically designed and developed for carbon negative off-site construction, using natural materials and with zero-waste.  The use of smart materials combined with mm build tolerances ensures an energy efficient building envelope, and our buildings are designed to be demountable, supporting the circular economy.

Bach Build pre-designed kits typically reach a U-value of 0.3W/m2k, which meets UK building regulations. For custom buildings without the permitted development height restriction of 2.5m, it is possible to improve the U-value to as low as 0.15W/m2k.

Yes! Our buildings are fully demountable, meaning they can be reconfigured, reassembled or even relocated. They can also be deconstructed and recycled at the end of their useful life.

Our building materials and methods are designed to meet safety standards, including fire safety. We can advise on additional safety measures like fire-resistant coatings or sprinkler systems, based on your project's specific requirements.
